Job Summary

pgEdge is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive the design and implementation of cutting-edge build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in software build systems, native packaging, and automation, with a focus on ensuring reliable deployments for distributed database solutions. You will take ownership of developing build frameworks, managing containerized environments, and deployments across diverse platforms and cloud ecosystems. This role is ideal for a hands-on expert who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about solving complex challenges in modern software development and has a focus on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable build systems for complex codebases, ensuring compatibility across diverse operating systems and architectures.

• Develop custom build frameworks from the ground up, leveraging modern scripting/automation tools to streamline development workflows.

• Build and manage native packaging and distribution workflows, ensuring installation, upgrade, and compatibility across Linux environments.

• Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines enabling continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across build systems, infrastructure, and deployments.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using IaC tools.

• Build and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes to support modern application deployments.

• Collaborate with engineering and customer support teams.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system health.

• Mentor and guide team members.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise in designing and implementing software build systems for complex, multi-platform codebases.

• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for automation.

• Strong experience with building native packaging (RPM, DEB) for Linux-based systems.

• Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitHub Actions, CircleCI.

• Hands-on experience with IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.

• Experience with AWS and familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP).

• Strong expertise in containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement scalable, innovative solutions.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with:
